Shri Hari Trading Co.

We are tucked away in Laxmi Bhawan, which most people around here know is on Amarsingh Marg in Freeganj. It isn't a fancy place with big glass windows, but it works for what we do at Shri Hari Trading Co. The street outside is always noisy with rickshaws and people moving about, especially in the afternoons when the heat picks up. Inside, we have our desks and piles of ledgers and samples that we’ve gathered over the years. Some of us have been sitting in these same chairs for a long time now. We don't spend much time on fancy decorations because the walls are mostly covered with calendars and notes we’ve pinned up. It can get a bit dusty with the windows open to catch the breeze, but that’s just how things are in this part of town. When someone comes to visit, they usually have to navigate the narrow stairs of the building. We know the neighbors well, and sometimes we stop for tea at the stall around the corner when things get a bit slow. Trading isn't always smooth, and some days are just spent on the phone trying to track down where a shipment has gone or why the ledger doesn't match up. We just keep at it, day after day, making sure things get moved from one place to another. It’s a simple way of making a living, and being right here in Freeganj makes it easy to stay connected to the local market rhythm.
