Being in Ujjain, you see a lot of people coming and going for the temple, and that’s basically why we started Mahakal Tours & Travels. We are based right here in the 456001 zip code area. It’s a busy life, honestly. There’s no such thing as a regular nine-to-five in this business. Sometimes I’m up at four in the morning because a group needs to catch the early darshan or a train. The office is simple, just a place to keep the keys and the logbooks. I don't go for all that corporate talk you hear these days. We just want to make sure the car shows up on time and the passenger isn't left waiting on the street. The traffic in the city can be a nightmare during the Shravan month, so we spend half our time on the phone giving directions to drivers who got stuck. It’s stressful sometimes, but I’ve been doing this so long I don’t know what else I’d do. We have a few regulars who always call us when they have guests coming to town. We just do our best with what we have. If the car is clean and the driver is polite, that’s usually enough for most folks. We’re just local people trying to provide a way for others to get around Ujjain without making things too complicated for anyone involved in the trip.
