Our place is at B 10 in the Dindayal Complex, right over on Sanwer Road in Ujjain. It’s pretty close to the Model School in Nanakheda, so we see the kids walking by every afternoon. We do a lot of the heavy lifting for parties around here. It usually involves moving chairs, setting up tables, and making sure the tents are tied down right. It is not glamorous work, but it keeps us busy. The complex can be a bit quiet on some days and then totally chaotic the next. We spend a lot of time checking our inventory to see what needs a fresh coat of paint or a quick repair. Dealing with the weather in Ujjain is always a gamble. One day it’s sunny and the next it’s pouring, which makes outdoor setups a real mess. We keep our stuff stored in the back and usually have a couple of guys sitting around waiting for the next truck to arrive. It’s a local operation, mostly just us and a few helpers from the neighborhood. We don’t use any fancy systems, just a notebook and some common sense. Sometimes things go wrong, a bulb breaks or a truck gets a flat tire, and we just deal with it then and there. People around Nanakheda know us by face mostly. It’s just how we make a living, day in and day out.
