Imperial Hotel

Imperial Hotel is right on Railway Road. It’s a busy street with people coming from the station all the time. We have a lobby that isn't very big but it has some comfortable chairs. We’ve been running this place for years. The carpets are a bit worn in the hallways from all the suitcases. We try to keep everything clean, but it’s an old building. There’s always something that needs fixing, like a leaky tap or a creaky door. We have a kitchen where we make breakfast. The smell of tea and toast usually fills the ground floor in the morning. We don’t have a fancy elevator. People just use the stairs. It’s good exercise, we tell them. Our rooms are simple. They have a bed, a table, and a window. Some windows look out at the tracks. You can hear the trains sometimes, but you get used to it. We keep a guest book at the front desk. It’s fun to see where everyone comes from. We don't have a big corporate staff. It’s just a few of us taking turns at the desk. We live nearby so we are always around if someone needs help with their keys. It’s a basic hotel for people who need a place to sleep. We don't try to be anything else. It is just a place to rest your head when you are traveling through.
