Our workshop is located at Plots 9 to 13 in the Balaji Industrial Estate over in Mahuakhera Ganj. It is a decent-sized space in U.S. Nagar where we handle both furniture and engineering work. The estate can get quite muddy when the rains come, which happens a lot in this part of the country. We have several plots joined together so there is enough room for the heavy machinery and the raw materials we keep on hand. Most of our day is spent welding, cutting, or assembling things. It is loud work, and we all wear our gear to stay safe. The office is just a small partitioned area in the corner where we keep the files and take phone calls. It gets a bit cluttered with blueprints and tea cups, but it works for us. We have a small crew of workers who have been with us for a long time, and they know the machines inside out. Sometimes we stay late to finish a big order, and we usually order some snacks from the local stall down the road. There is a lot of heavy lifting involved, so everyone stays pretty fit. We don't really have a showroom; if someone wants to see our work, they just walk onto the shop floor and see what we are currently building. It is a straightforward operation without any unnecessary fluff. We just focus on the metal and wood in front of us and try to do a decent job every day.
