Vinayak Art & Craft

You can find us at Building No 69, Durga Sadan, right on Lake Palace Road. We are directly opposite the Gass Ghar, which is a landmark everyone around here knows. Being on Lake Palace Road means there are always people walking by, mostly tourists and locals going about their business. Vinayak Art & Craft is a small shop where we keep a variety of handmade items. It’s not a big, shiny gallery. It’s more of a cozy, slightly crowded space where things are tucked into every available shelf. The building itself, Durga Sadan, is old and has a lot of character, though the stairs can be a bit steep. We spend a lot of time just arranging and re-arranging the stock to make everything fit. It gets quite warm in the summer, but we keep the door open to catch the breeze coming off the lake nearby. I usually spend my time talking to whoever wanders in or fixing bits and pieces that might have gotten bumped. We don’t do any aggressive selling; we just let people look around and ask questions if they want to. It’s a relaxed atmosphere, despite the traffic outside. Most of our items come from local makers, and we just try to keep the shop running smoothly. It’s a simple business in a beautiful part of town, and we’re happy to be part of the local scene here.
