Sadiq Ali Mulla Ali Mohammed & Sons is located right in the middle of Hathipole Loha Bazar. The address is 156, and if you know Chamanpura, you know how crowded it gets. This shop has been in the family for a long time. My father and his father before him sat in this same spot. It is a metal market, so there is always the clanging of iron and people shouting over the noise. We deal with hardware and heavy stuff mostly. The air always has that metallic scent to it. It is a narrow street and sometimes the delivery trucks get stuck, which causes a huge mess. We just sit on our wooden benches and wait for things to clear up. Customers come in with old pieces of metal wanting something that matches, or they need a specific bolt. We spend a lot of time digging through bins and shelves. It is dusty work. We drink a lot of tea throughout the day. It is the only way to keep going when it is hot. We do not have a website or anything like that. People just know where we are. They come here because we have been here forever. The walls are covered in old calendars and notes written in pen. It is not a fancy showroom. It is a place of business where we get our hands dirty every single day. That is just the way it has always been for us here.
