Pannalal Roshanlal Jain

Our shop is number 39 in Dhanmandi. It is a busy area, always filled with trucks and people carrying heavy sacks. Pannalal Roshanlal Jain is the name on the board, and we’ve been operating out of this same spot for generations. It’s mostly about buying and selling. We deal with whatever the season brings in. The air here is always a bit dusty because of all the grain and activity in the market. It’s a traditional way of doing business. We don't use computers much, mostly just keeping records in the ledger books. My uncle and I sit here from morning until the market closes in the evening. It’s a lot of talking to farmers and other traders. Dhanmandi is the heart of the city's trade, so it’s always noisy and crowded. We have a small storage area in the back, but most of the stuff moves out pretty quickly. It’s not a fancy place at all. The walls could use some paint, but we are too busy to worry about that. We know most of the other shopkeepers around here. It’s a tight community. You see the same people every single day. We just try to keep things honest and keep the business running like our family did before us. It’s just life in the market, nothing more and nothing less. We keep the doors open and see what the day brings.
