Our place is at 101 Mandi Ki Naal, which is a bit of a tight spot but we like it here. Neelam Tea Co has been around this corner for quite a bit. It’s a simple setup with shelves and some old counters that have seen better days. Every morning, I unlock the shutters and let the air in. The tea comes in large crates and bags, mostly from the bigger suppliers. We spend a lot of time sorting through things and making sure everything is where it should be. The street outside is narrow, so it gets crowded with people and the occasional cart going by. Most of our regulars are folks who live nearby or other shop owners from the mandi. They stop by, tell a bit of news, and pick up what they need for their homes. We don't have any big signs or bright lights. It’s just the name on the front and the tea inside. Sometimes the dust from the road comes in, so we are always wiping things down. We try to keep the different grades of tea separate so it’s easy to find when someone asks. It’s not a big operation, just a few of us handling the daily tasks. We keep the ledger books by the phone and try to keep up with the orders as they come. It’s steady work and we keep at it day after day.
