Nandwana Pan Merchent

We’ve got this pan shop over in Kankroli Kishor Nagar, here in Rajsamand. It’s a small corner spot that most people know. My name is Nandwana and I’ve been running this place for quite a while now. It’s not a big shop at all. Just enough room for me to stand and a small shelf for the ingredients I use. I spend my whole day folding leaves and mixing the fillings for the customers. People stop by after their meals or when they are just walking through Kishor Nagar on their way somewhere else. The counter is made of old wood that’s gone smooth over the years. I have a small radio that plays old songs most of the day. It keeps me company when it gets quiet in the afternoons. Rajsamand is a nice place, but it gets very dusty with the wind blowing through. I have to wipe down the glass jars every few hours to keep them looking okay. I don't have any employees helping me. If I’m not here, the shop is closed. Sometimes I close for an hour in the afternoon to go home and eat lunch with my wife. People know I’ll be back soon so they don't mind. We don't have a phone in the shop, so people just show up when they want something. It’s a very basic way of doing things, but it works for me and the people who live around here.
