Mama Foods Pvt. Ltd. operates out of the 1st Silk House, which is located at number 630 in Navjivan Wadi, just off Girguam Road. It’s one of those classic old Mumbai buildings where space is tight and everything feels very lived-in. Navjivan Wadi is a narrow area, so it’s always a bit of a squeeze getting things in and out, but we’ve managed it for years. Inside our part of the building, there is always something going on. Since we deal with food, there are often different scents in the air, depending on what’s being processed or packed that day. It isn't a high-tech factory; it’s more of a traditional setup where a lot of things are done by hand or with simple machines. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, and the lighting is a bit dim in the back corners, but we spend our time on the products rather than the decor. We are just a group of people who know our way around the kitchen and the packing tables. Most of our staff have been with us for a long time, so we work together without needing to say much. It’s a busy, sometimes messy, but always productive environment. We don’t have a big marketing department or anything. We just make the food, pack it up, and send it off to wherever it needs to go. That’s the long and short of it for us here in Girguam.
