Mahaveer Sarees

Over at 79 Maldas Street, that is where you will find us. Maldas Street is famous for clothes, so there is a lot of competition around here. We just try to keep our heads down and do our work. Mahaveer Sarees has been around for a good bit of time now. The shop is long and narrow, filled with racks. We have to use a ladder to reach the stuff on the top shelves. It’s a bit of a workout every day. We get our stock from different places, trying to find things that look decent but don’t cost a fortune. The customers on this street know their fabrics, so you can’t fool them. They come in, rub the cloth between their fingers, and tell you exactly what they think. We don't mind. It’s better that way. The afternoons are usually the busiest when the sun isn't so hot. We don't have much space for sitting, just a few stools and the edge of the counter. Sometimes we eat our lunch right there between customers. It’s a busy life, and the noise from the street never really stops until late at night. We just keep folding and unfolding, making sure everything is in its place before we head home. It is what it is.
