Mahalaxmi Building Material

Our yard for Mahalaxmi Building Material is right by the Khemli Railway Station on Ghasa Road. You can hear the trains coming and going all day long, which we’ve gotten used to over the years. Being near the station is handy for some things but it also means the road gets very crowded with all sorts of vehicles. We keep a lot of our inventory out in the open. It’s mostly sand, grit, and stones that we sell to people working on sites nearby. The wind blows pretty hard across the tracks sometimes, so we’re always dusty by noon. We don’t have a big staff, just a few of us who know how to handle the loaders and the scales. The paperwork usually gets done on a clipboard while standing up because there isn’t much room for a big office. We’ve been here since before some of the newer roads were even paved. It’s a practical business for practical people. We don’t spend money on advertising or fancy displays. The piles of materials out front are enough to let people know we are open. We just try to be fair and get the loads delivered on time. It’s a long day from start to finish, but seeing the houses being built with our stuff makes it feel like we're doing something real. We just keep our heads down and get the work done.
