Khshmir Minerals

The yard here at Plot 90 in the Thotitore Kandwara industrial estate is always covered in a bit of dust. That is just how it is when you deal with minerals all day long. Khshmir Minerals has been operating out of this spot for a few years now. It can get really hot under the tin roof during the summer months, so we usually start quite early to get the heavy lifting done before noon. There is a small office in the front where we keep the logs and the phone, but most of the action happens out back where the bags are stacked. The trucks have a hard time backing in because the road is a bit narrow right at the entrance. We’ve had to help the drivers navigate that turn more times than I can count. Sometimes the supply is slow and other times we have more rocks than we know what to do with. We just pile them up and keep moving. My desk is covered in fine white powder most of the time even though I wipe it down every morning. We don’t have a big sign or anything, just the name painted on the wall near the gate. It's a quiet enough area except when the grinders are going. We just do our bit and go home when the sun goes down. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy enough throughout the week.
