Kathawala Traders

If you go down to Chamanpura, you’ll find us at 50 Hathipole. It’s right in the Loha Bazar area, which is always a bit chaotic. Kathawala Traders is basically a small slice of that madness. We’ve got a lot of stock crammed into a space that sometimes feels a bit too small for it all. Most days involve a lot of lifting and moving things around so we can find what a customer is looking for. It’s a traditional kind of market area, so there’s a lot of shouting back and forth between shops and the sound of carts being pushed over the uneven ground. We aren't doing anything complicated here. It’s just about buying and selling what people need for their own trades. The shop has been here for years, and the walls show it. We don’t bother with painting or making it look like a boutique because that’s not why people come to see us. They come because they know we’re here and we usually have what they want buried somewhere in the back. It’s a lot of manual work and long hours, especially when the market is busy. We close up when the sun goes down and start all over again the next day. It’s a simple life, and we don’t expect it to change much. We’re just local traders trying to make an honest living in a very busy part of the old town area.
