Jivaji Adamji has been a part of Dhanmandi Tel Bazar for as long as most people can remember. Our shop at number 17 is right in the thick of it. If you walk down the street, you can smell the different oils and spices in the air. It is a narrow lane and things get crowded, especially on market days. We don't have a big sign or anything flashy. Just the name on the door and a lot of old wooden shelves inside. We handle oils mostly, hence the name of the bazaar. My grandfather was the one who really got things moving here. Nowadays, we just try to keep the same standards he had. We don't use computers for everything because the old way of writing things down still works for us. It is dusty and noisy outside, but inside we just focus on the task at hand. We see the same faces every week. Some are old shopkeepers and some are just folks looking for something specific for their kitchen. We don't have a website or a social media page. We just show up, open the shutters, and do our job. It is a simple life and a simple business. We don't promise anything other than what is on the scale. That is how it has always been at Jivaji Adamji. We don't see a reason to change it now. If you need oil or just want to see how an old shop runs, you can find us. We don't have a lot of space for people to hang around, but we always have time for a quick hello.
