Indian Spices

We are over on Lake Palace Road, specifically at number 6. It’s a nice enough spot and there are always tourists and locals walking past the front window. The shop smells like everything mixed together, mostly cumin and turmeric and some of the hotter peppers we keep in the back. We spend a lot of time weighing things out on the little scale and putting them into bags for people. It’s a small shop so you have to be careful not to knock anything over when you walk through the aisles. We have jars lining the walls from floor to ceiling. Sometimes we just stand at the door and watch the traffic go by on the way to the lake. It gets pretty busy in the evenings when people are heading home and want to pick something up for dinner. We don't have a big team, just a few of us who know where everything is kept. If someone asks for something specific, we usually know exactly which jar it is in without looking at the labels. It is a bit cramped but we like it that way. We just keep things simple and try to be helpful when someone isn't sure what they need. The building is old but the roof doesn't leak anymore. We are here every day except for some holidays when we take a break to be with our families.
