Alite Architects

Our office, Alite Architects, is located right on the Kankroli 80 Feet Road, which is a pretty well-known stretch in this part of town. Having the office on such a main road means we see a lot of the local life passing by, from the morning traffic to the evening crowds. The space itself is where the real work happens, mostly involving a lot of sketching, measuring, and re-measuring. We’ve set things up so it’s comfortable enough to spend long hours in, though it’s definitely a working office and not a showroom. There are usually piles of site reports and sketches of different buildings sitting on every available surface. We spend a lot of time talking through ideas, sometimes disagreeing on the right way to use a particular piece of land. It’s all part of the process of being an architect. Kankroli has its own way of doing things, and we try to fit into that rhythm as best as we can. We don’t really use a lot of big words or complicated explanations when we talk to people about their projects. We just show them what we’ve drawn and explain why we put the windows or the doors in those specific spots. It’s a bit of a grind sometimes, especially when deadlines are close, but we’re used to it. The 80 Feet Road is a good place to be based because it keeps us connected.
