Ajanta Engineering Works

Our place, Ajanta Engineering Works, is situated in Nayapura Sukher, right along the National Heavy No 8. It’s a prime spot for the kind of work we do because so much heavy machinery passes right by our front door. The shop is usually a bit of a mess with metal scraps and old engine components, but we know exactly where everything is kept. We spend a lot of our time on the heavy-duty stuff that keeps the big transport rigs moving across the country. It involves a lot of sweat and effort, especially when we have to pull apart a stubborn transmission or weld a large industrial frame in the heat. The air inside the shop is usually thick with the smell of oil and cooling metal. We aren't trying to be the biggest engineering shop in Sukher, just the one that gets the job done without making a big fuss. Every day is a bit different for us; one day we might be fixing a tractor, and the next it’s a piece of specialized mining equipment. We’ve got a few old fans that try to keep the air moving, but they don't do much when the afternoon sun is hitting the highway. It’s the kind of environment where you learn the trade by just doing it. We’ve had some of the same guys working here for years now, so we’ve become a tight group. We drink our tea together and then get to work.
