Yagasri Garments

We've been over here on Muruganandha Puram Cotton Mill Road for a while now. It gets busy on this street. Mostly we deal with making garments. There’s a lot of cutting and stitching going on every day. People come by to check on their orders or just talk about what fabric works. It isn't a fancy setup. We have our machines lined up and the lights are usually on late if there's a big pile of work to get through. Sometimes the power goes out or a machine gets stuck, but we just fix it and keep going. The neighbors know us by the sound of the needles. It’s mostly just us trying to keep up with the demands of the week. We try to keep things organized but sometimes the scraps get everywhere. My cousin helps out with the packing sometimes when he isn't busy. It’s a lot of work but it feels right to be part of the textile area here. We see the trucks moving in and out all day. If you walk down the road, you can't miss us because of the stacks of boxes by the door. We don’t have a big front office or anything like that. Just a space where we do the work and hope the quality is alright for the folks buying it. We’ve been in this trade for years and it is just what we know. It is a simple life of thread and needles.
