Plannet Apprels

Plannet Apprels has been operating out of 10 Thiruneelakandapuram for quite some time now. It’s a busy neighborhood, and there is always something happening outside our doors. Inside, the machines are set up and piles of fabric wait to be worked on. I spend most of my day making sure the threads match and the cuts are straight. It gets loud in here when all the machines are running at once, but the rhythm becomes normal after a few years. We aren't some massive factory with thousands of workers. It’s a smaller setup where everyone knows each other’s names. Sometimes staying late is necessary when there’s a big pile of work to finish before the weekend. The lighting in the back could be better, but we make do with what we have. Most of the folks who stop by are locals or people who have been coming to us for years. Word of mouth seems to work just fine for us, so we don't do much advertising. The smell of new cloth in the morning before the dust starts to settle is something I like. All sorts of garments go through here, changing based on the season. It’s honest work and it keeps the lights on. We don't claim to be anything fancy. Putting in the hours and trying to get the stitching right every single time is what matters. It's a bit dusty, and the tea we make in the corner isn't great, but we get by.
