M/S. Fashion Knits

Our place, M/S. Fashion Knits, is right on the Angeripalayam Main Road, not too far from the Gandhi Nagar post office. It’s a decent sized building, numbers 81 and 82, and it gets pretty busy with trucks coming in and out. We mostly work with knitted fabrics here. It's nothing fancy, just a workshop where we cut and sew all day. The noise from the main road is always there in the background, but you get used to it after a week or two. We have a small team and everyone knows what they need to do. Sometimes the tea man comes by and that's usually the highlight of the afternoon. We don’t spend much time on the computer, mostly we’re just at the tables checking the cloth for holes or uneven dye. The lighting isn't the best in the back corner, so we moved the packing station near the front window. It’s a practical setup. We don't really have a showroom or anything like that. People just drop off the materials and we turn them into clothes. We’ve been at this for several years and the neighborhood has changed a lot, but we’re still doing the same thing. It’s a lot of manual labor and keeping track of needle counts. We just keep moving along and try to finish the batches on time for the containers.
