Murugesh Emu & Agro

Our place, Murugesh Emu & Agro, is right near the MLR Mahal on the Perumanallur Road. Kunnathur is where we have set everything up. It is an interesting mix, having the emus and the agro side of things together. The birds are quite something to look after. They have their own personalities and can be a bit loud. We spend a lot of time making sure they are fed and have enough space to move. The farm part keeps us busy too. We deal with various crops depending on what the season allows. It is not a desk job, that is for sure. Most of our days are spent outdoors, rain or shine. If it rains, the ground gets muddy and we have to move things around. If it is hot, we are making sure there is enough shade for the birds. We have been at this location for some time now. Locals know us by the road. We do not use a lot of big words to describe what we do. It is just farming and bird keeping. Sometimes it is a bit chaotic, especially when we have a lot of birds at once. But we manage it. We are usually around the property from early morning. It is a lot of physical labor, but that is what we are used to. No fancy suits here, just boots and work clothes. We take it one day at a time.
