About Kodanda Ramaiah Emu Farm – Agriculture & Farming in Tirupati
You’ll find us out in Rajanagar, specifically at Kodanda Ramaiah Emu Farm. It’s in the Ramachandrapuram Mandal area. Emu farming is a bit different from the usual cows or goats you see around here. We started with just a few birds because we wanted to try something new. Now we have quite a lot of them running around. They are loud and they eat a ton of feed. Our days are mostly spent cleaning the pens and making sure the fences are tight. Those birds can be a handful if they get loose. The farm is just a basic plot of land with some shade structures. We don’t have any fancy equipment, just our hands and some shovels. People from the village come by sometimes to look at the birds because they aren't common. We sell the eggs and whatever else comes from them. It’s a tough business because the birds can be moody and the market changes. But we’ve stayed in Rajanagar for this long, so we aren't planning on quitting. It’s just me and my family working the ground. We don't have a website or anything, just our name on the gate. If someone wants to know about emus, they just come and talk to us. It’s a lot of dirt and sun, but it’s what we do and we know the birds well.
