Our office is right in the Srinivasam Complex here in Tirupati. R.V. Suresh Kumar Reddy is the deputy manager and he is usually busy with something or other. Being part of Andhra Pradesh Tourism means we see a lot of people every single day. Most of them are pilgrims who are a bit tired from their travels and looking for a place to stay or a bus to catch. We sit behind the counter and try to help them out as best as we can. It’s a government-run spot, so things have a certain way of being done. The complex itself is always crowded, and there is a lot of noise from the buses and the people talking. We have our files, our computers, and a lot of brochures that people pick up. It isn’t always the quietest place to work, but you get used to it. We deal with a lot of different questions, mostly about how to get to the temple or where the nearest canteen is. Sometimes the queues get long and people get a bit impatient, which is understandable given the heat. We just keep our heads down and keep the line moving. It is a lot of routine work, checking IDs and printing out receipts. We are just one part of the big machine that keeps the city moving for the visitors. We try to stay patient and handle each request as it comes through the window.
