Dinesh Blue Metal

Running a place like Dinesh Blue Metal down here in Rathapuram isn't exactly a quiet job. We are located at 3/15 in the Avarai Kulam area, which is a spot most people around here know well enough. Every morning starts with the sound of the trucks coming in. There is always a lot of dust in the air because of the blue metal we handle, so everything we own has a thin layer of grey on it. It’s hard to keep anything clean, but that is just part of the business. The sun gets really intense in this part of the country, and by noon, the rocks are almost too hot to touch. We spend our time checking the piles and making sure the loaders are working okay. It’s a lot of standing around in the heat and talking to drivers who are usually in a hurry to get back on the road. Avarai Kulam is a decent place to be based, even if it gets a bit loud with all the heavy machinery going all day long. We don't really have an office with air conditioning or anything; we just have a small covered area where we keep our ledgers and sit for a bit of shade. It is a simple operation and we just take it one day at a time, making sure the piles are ready for whoever comes by next. It’s hard on the back, but it’s what we do for a living and it keeps us busy.
