Being stationed here in Vill-Chechakhata, you get used to the pace of life in Alipurduar Junction pretty quickly. This isn't what you see in the movies with constant action. For the Indian Air Force crew out here in Jalpaiguri, it’s mostly about the routine and keeping things running smoothly. West Bengal weather is no joke, especially when the monsoon hits and everything in the village gets soaked through. We spend a lot of time on the grounds, making sure the equipment is ready and the base is secure. It’s a bit out of the way, being near the junction, but that’s just how these things are. You see the same people every day at the mess or out on the field. The local area around Pin-736123 is mostly quiet, which is nice after a long shift. We don't have a lot of fancy words for what we do. It’s about showing up, doing the maintenance, and following the schedule. Sometimes the supplies are late, or the rain stops everything for a couple of hours, so we just wait it out with a cup of tea. It’s a very specific kind of life, I suppose. We are just people from all over India who ended up in this corner of West Bengal to do a job. It’s practical and sometimes a bit dusty, but we keep at it because that’s the assignment.
