College Of Teacher Education

The College Of Teacher Education is found over in the Durgabaritinsukia area of Tinsukia in Assam. It’s a place where people come when they want to become teachers themselves, so there is a lot of serious studying going on. Tinsukia is a busy town, and our location puts us right in the middle of the local activity. The weather here can be quite damp for much of the year, which means we are always fighting a bit of mold on the walls and trying to keep the library books dry. The building is functional and straightforward, with large windows to let in as much light as possible during the overcast days. Students come from all over the district, and many of them travel quite a distance by bus or train to get here every day. We spend a lot of our time on the practical side of training, like lesson planning and mock teaching sessions. It’s not a place for luxury; the benches are hard and the corridors are narrow. But it gets the job done for those who are committed to the profession. The office staff is usually busy with registrations and exam schedules, and there’s always a bit of a queue at the front desk. We just focus on the daily tasks and making sure the trainees get their hours in so they can graduate. It’s a long process but we see it through every year with the new batch.
