The mill stays pretty busy most days here at 22, Chungam Road. It gets loud once the machines start up in the morning, but you get used to it after a while. We spend a lot of time just cleaning up the powder that gets everywhere. People from all over Kaichoondi come by with their sacks of grain. Sometimes they stay and chat while they wait, or they just leave the bags and come back later. It’s a lot of lifting and moving things around. The floor is usually covered in a fine layer of white dust no matter how much we sweep. We've been here in this spot for a bit now. You can see the sign from the road easily. Usually, it's just the smell of fresh flour and the sound of the grinders running. We don't have fancy office chairs or anything. Just the work area and the space where we keep the bags. It can get hot in the afternoons, especially when the sun hits the front of the building. We try to keep things organized so nobody gets their order mixed up. Most of the regulars know us by name and just walk right in. It’s just how things are around here. We make sure the machines are greased and working right so the flour comes out smooth. It’s simple work, but it keeps us busy from dawn till we close up the shutters at night.
