Kpl Oil Mills (P) Ltd.

Our mill is located out on Kodungallur Road in Irinjalajuda. We’ve been pressing oil here for a long time, and the building shows its age in a good way. It’s a noisy place with the machines running all day long. You can smell the seeds and the fresh oil from the moment you hit the gate. We have a small office near the entrance, but most of us are out on the factory floor most of the time. It’s hot and greasy work, especially when the summer heat hits. We use P.B. No.2 for our mail, but most people just come directly to the factory. We produce oil for cooking and various other uses for the local market. There are layers of history in this building if you look at the walls. Some of the equipment is newer, but the basic way we do things stays mostly the same. We have trucks coming in with raw materials and leaving with finished barrels every single day. The floors are always a bit slippery, so we have to be careful where we walk. We employ a lot of local people from the surrounding villages. It’s a steady job and we take a bit of pride in the stuff we make here. We don't spend money on fancy offices or leather chairs. The money goes back into the machines and the building maintenance. It’s a straightforward business. We make oil, we sell it, and we try to do it right. People know the KPL name around here because their parents and grandparents used our products. We just keep the tradition going.
