Pear Aqua Farm

Pear Aqua Farm is located in Perinjanam, specifically in the Moonupeedika area of Trissur District. We have a few ponds and tanks that we look after. Working with water means you are always going to be a little bit wet and messy. We don't mind it much. The farm is a bit out of the way, which is good for the fish and whatever else we are raising. It is quiet out here, especially in the early mornings when the birds are the only thing you can hear. We have to check the water every day to make sure everything is okay. It’s a lot of physical work, carrying feed and maintaining the pumps. Sometimes a pump breaks in the middle of the night and someone has to go out with a flashlight to fix it. That’s just the way it is when you deal with live things. We don't have a big office with air conditioning. We have a small shed where we keep our tools and take our breaks. The post office in Perinjanam handles our mail, though we don't get much besides bills and catalogs. It’s a simple life out here in Trissur. We just focus on the water and the weather. If the rain is too heavy, we worry about the ponds overflowing. We just take it one day at a time and do our best to keep everything healthy.
