Msa Flour Mill

Msa Flour Mill is situated on Plot No. 257 along Mavinch Road. We are part of the Vellikulangara area. If you come down Mavinch Road, you’ll hear the machines before you see the mill. It’s a pretty standard setup on Plot 257. We spend most of our time inside the mill where it’s a bit dark and very dusty. That’s just the way it is with flour. Vellikulangara is where we live and work, so we know most of the people who come through the door. We don't have any big corporate goals or anything. We just want to make sure the grinding is done right and the bags are filled properly. Some days are slower than others. On the slow days, we just clean the equipment and sweep the floors, though the dust always comes back. We use a lot of different grinders depending on what people bring in. It takes some skill to get the texture right, and we’ve learned that over the years just by doing it every day. The plot isn't very big, so we have to be careful about where we stack the finished flour. If a customer is late picking up their stuff, it starts to get crowded. We don't really have a manager or a boss who sits in an office; we are all just out there on the floor working the machines together for the neighbors.
