We’ve been set up here at 57, Vallakkunnu for quite some time now. Most people around Kalletumkara know where we are. It’s not a huge place, just a regular spot where we handle the daily trading work. Usually, it’s quiet in the mornings, but things pick up by ten. The building is older, but it does the job. My desk faces the front door so I can see everyone coming in from the road. Sometimes the rain gets heavy and we have to move stuff away from the windows. We deal with all sorts of things throughout the week. It’s mostly just paperwork and making sure the orders are lined up right. People stop by to chat or check on their stuff. We don’t have fancy chairs or a coffee machine, just a bench for waiting. It gets dusty because of the road, but we try to sweep every evening before heading home. My brother helps out on the weekends when it gets busy. We’ve known the neighbors for years, which makes the days go by faster. It’s a simple setup. Nothing too complicated goes on here. We just show up, do the work, and lock up at six. Sometimes the phone rings off the hook, other days it’s silent. That’s just how it is in Vallakkunnu. We’ve got a small sign outside so people don't miss the turnoff. It’s home for us, really. We keep our supplies in the back room and try to keep things organized so we can find things fast.
