Fathima Stores

If you walk down towards Raya Gopuram West, you’ll find us at number 5. Fathima Stores is just a regular local shop where we sell the kind of things people need for their homes every day. It’s a small space, so it gets a bit crowded with stock sometimes. We try to keep everything from soap to kitchen basics on the shelves. Being right near the West gate of the Gopuram means we see a lot of people passing through. Some are locals we’ve known for years, and others are just visiting for the first time. We open early in the morning and stay open until the evening rush finally dies down. It’s a family-run kind of thing, so you’ll usually see one of us behind the counter. We don't have a big team or a fancy website. We just focus on keeping the inventory right so we don’t run out of the basics. Sometimes the deliveries arrive late and we’re busy unboxing things in the middle of the shop, but that’s just how it goes in a small business. People around here know they can just pop in for a quick item without any fuss. The building itself is older, which gives it some character I guess. We like being part of this street. It’s noisy and busy, but it feels like home to us and we plan to stay right here for a long time yet.
