In Vadakkekad, things move a bit slower than in the big cities. Our shop in Veliyannur is right where people pass by on their way to other places. We have been here quite some time. Most of the people who come in are neighbors or folks from the nearby villages. It’s not a big setup, just enough room for the stock and a small space to sit down. We usually have the radio playing in the background. Sometimes we spend more time talking to customers about their families than actually selling things. That’s just how it is here. You can’t really rush anyone. We get our supplies delivered a few times a week, and that’s when it gets really hectic. Everyone helps out to unload the bags and boxes. The floor is a bit uneven, so you have to watch your step near the back. We don't have a website or any of that stuff. If someone needs us, they just walk in or call the old landline. It’s a simple life. We close up when the sun goes down and head home. There isn't much to say about us other than we’re here every morning at the same time. We just try to keep things honest and keep the shelves full for whoever might stop by today. If it's a festival day, we might close a bit early, but usually, the lights are on. It’s been this way for years.
