Nttf Technical Training Centre

Being down here in Thoothukudi at the Spic Campus, things feel a bit different than the big city. Our training centre is right inside Spic Nagar, and it’s a pretty quiet area most of the time compared to the main roads. We spend our days teaching the students who come through these doors. Most of them are looking to learn a trade or get some technical skills under their belts. It gets really warm here in Tamil Nadu, so we try to keep the classrooms as comfortable as we can, though the workshops are always going to be a bit hot with all the machinery running. You can hear the hum of tools and people talking about diagrams throughout the day. The campus has a lot of trees, which helps a little with the shade. We’ve been here for a while now, seeing different groups of kids come in and eventually move on to jobs. It is practical work. We don't spend much time on fluff. There is always something that needs fixing or a machine that needs adjusting. The staff here mostly lives nearby, so we all know each other well. It’s a steady kind of life, focused on the gears and the electronics and making sure the students actually understand what they are holding in their hands. We just want them to be ready for real work when they leave.
