Mother Exports

Mother Exports is located at No. 4/36/1 in Muthuammal Colony, specifically on 8th Street. It’s a residential area mostly, so we try to keep things as quiet as we can, though that’s hard when the delivery trucks arrive. We’ve been here for quite some time and all the neighbors know us by now. The office is basically the front part of a converted house. We have a small storage area in the back where we keep the stock before it goes out. It’s a simple operation run by just a handful of us. We spend a lot of time on the computer checking shipping schedules and making sure the labels have the right addresses. Sometimes we make mistakes and have to redo everything, which is a real headache. 8th Street isn't very wide, so when we are loading up, it can get a bit tight for other cars to pass. We usually try to get the heavy lifting done early in the morning before the sun gets too hot. We deal with various products that we source from small workshops around the city. It’s not a fancy business with suits and ties. We wear casual clothes and drink a lot of tea while we work. Most of our customers have been with us for years, so we just talk to them on the phone like old friends. It’s a steady rhythm and we like the neighborhood feel of being in Muthuammal Colony.
