L K Brick Works

If you go down East Chetty Street in Aduturai, you will find us at 24/10. We spend most of our time out in the yard dealing with clay and fire. Making bricks is not exactly clean work. We usually go home with red dust on our clothes and boots at the end of the shift. L K Brick Works has been part of this community for a while now. We provide the blocks for a lot of the houses and walls being built around this area. The kiln takes a lot of watching and we have to stay on top of the weather forecasts. Rain is usually our biggest problem because it ruins the drying process if we don't cover the bricks fast enough. We have a small crew and everyone knows their job without being told. It is hard physical labor and the sun can be brutal in the afternoons during the summer. We do not have a showroom or a glossy catalog to show people. If someone wants to see the quality of the bricks, they just walk around the stacks in the yard and pick one up. Sometimes the colors vary a bit depending on the earth we use, but that is just natural. We keep our records in a simple ledger and deal with people face to face. It is a basic way of doing business that hasn't failed us yet. People know where we are if they need supplies for a new room. We just keep the fire going.
