Vijay Flour Mill

I’ve been working at Vijay Flour Mill for a while now. We are located right in Udiyankulangara, which is part of Amaravila in Neyyattinkara. The mill isn’t anything fancy to look at from the outside, just a regular building with the machines humming inside. Most mornings start early because people want their flour ready before the sun gets too high. You see a lot of the same folks coming in with their bags of grain. Some carry them on cycles, others just walk over if they live close by. It gets quite dusty in here, especially when we are doing a lot of grinding at once. My clothes usually end up covered in white powder by noon. The machines we use are old but they still do the job okay. We don't really do any big advertising or anything like that. People just know where we are in Udiyankulangara and stop by when they need something ground up. Sometimes the power goes out and we just have to sit and wait for it to come back on. That’s just how things go around here. Neyyattinkara is a busy enough place, and we just try to keep up with the daily orders that come through the door. It’s hard work on the back sometimes, lifting those heavy sacks, but it keeps us busy and pays the bills. We don't have a big office or anything, just the workspace and the grinding stones.
