Sithara Tuition Center

In Poovar, our tuition center is a small but busy spot. We started this because there were many kids in the neighborhood who needed a place to study after school. The center is basically just a few rooms where we have set up some tables and chairs. It is nothing fancy, just a practical space. We get kids of all ages coming in. Usually, the younger ones come earlier and the older ones stay later. It can be a bit chaotic when they are all arriving at the same time, with bags being dropped and umbrellas left by the door. We help them with whatever subjects they are struggling with that week. It might be math one day and social studies the next. The walls are mostly bare, except for a few schedules and maybe a map. We use regular notebooks and pens, and sometimes we write on a small board. The lighting isn't the brightest in the evenings, but it gets the job done. Since Poovar is a smaller place, we know all the parents and they often stop by to see how things are going. It feels very informal, like a big study group rather than a formal school. We just focus on making sure the homework is finished and the kids understand what they are reading. It is a simple, honest way to help the local students get ahead without making things too complicated.
