About Kanagam Cattle Feed – Agriculture & Farming in Thiruvananthapuram
We’ve been here at 29 near the Vellayani Temple in Nemom for a good while now. It’s a busy spot, especially in the mornings when the temple bells are going and people are moving about. My father started things off and now I’m the one mostly sitting behind the desk or helping load sacks of feed onto the back of scooters. Dealing with cattle feed isn't exactly glamorous work, you get dust all over your clothes by ten in the morning and the smell of grain stays in the shop all day. But it's what we do. Farmers come by from the surrounding areas, some we've known for twenty years, and we just talk about the rain or how the milk yield is doing. The shop isn't huge, just enough space for the stacks and a small wooden chair that’s seen better days. Sometimes the cows from the nearby houses wander over, probably smelling the bags. It gets hot in the afternoons here in Nemom, so we usually keep the fan on high and wait for the evening rush. We don't have a fancy website or anything, just this physical place where people know they can find us. If the door is open, we’re here. It’s mostly just making sure the bags are dry and the stock is fresh enough for the animals. Nothing too complicated, really. Just a local business trying to keep things moving along day by day without making much of a fuss.
