Vinayak Nursery & Primary School

Our little school is located in Lakshmipuram, over in the Theni district. It is a primary and nursery school, so we mostly deal with very young children. The building is not very big, but it is enough for the groups we have. We have decorated the walls with some drawings the kids made and some alphabet charts. It gets quite lively in the mornings when parents are dropping off their little ones and there is a lot of crying and laughing all at once. The area around here is mostly residential, so it is a bit quieter than the main parts of Theni. We have a small space for the kids to run around during their break, and we keep an eye on them to make sure nobody falls down. The teachers here are very used to the chaos of small children. We use simple books and lots of singing to get through the day. Sometimes the rain in Theni makes it hard for everyone to get here, but we usually stay open unless it is really bad. We don't have any big fancy equipment, just basic toys and blocks for the nursery kids. Most of our students live within walking distance, so we know their families quite well. It’s just a local place where the kids come to start their learning before moving on to the bigger schools later on. We try to keep things calm and focused on the basics.
