We are located right on the main road that goes from Cumbum to Theni. It’s a busy road, so you can’t really miss us if you’re driving by. The school has been here for a while now. We have a decent amount of space and the building is quite sturdy. Being on the main road means we get a lot of noise from the buses and trucks, but we’ve gotten used to it over the years. We focus on our daily lessons and keeping the students busy with their work. We aren't a big corporate chain. It’s more of a local operation. We have teachers who come in from the surrounding villages. Most of the kids come from families who have lived in Cumbum for generations. We don't use a lot of fancy language to describe what we do. It’s just a school. We have some computers and a library, and we make sure they get used. The staff room is usually full of people marking papers and drinking tea. It’s a simple life here. We just want to make sure the kids learn what they need to. The main road keeps us connected to the rest of the district. It’s a practical location for everyone involved. Sometimes the rain makes the yard a bit muddy, but we deal with it. We spend our evenings getting ready for the next day of classes, making sure the chalk is stocked and the registers are updated. It’s just a normal rhythm for us.
