G. S. R. Exports

Our place is right by Shanthi Ganesh Hospital, specifically at No:72 Rastha Thenkarai in Periyakulam. Having the hospital so close means there is always an ambulance siren or people walking around, so it never feels lonely. G. S. R. Exports is a small outfit. We focus on getting our local goods ready for the export market, which involves a lot of sorting and quality checking in our back room. Periyakulam is a nice town, and being in the Thenkarai area feels right for us. The office itself is quite old, with high ceilings and those heavy wooden windows that are hard to slide open in the monsoon. We don't have a big staff, just a few local guys who know the products well and don't mind getting their hands dirty. We spend a lot of time talking to the farmers and suppliers who bring their stuff to our door on Rastha. Sometimes we sit on the porch during the evening when the heat dies down a bit and just watch the traffic. It is not the kind of job where you wear a suit. Most days I am just in a cotton shirt, worrying about whether the truck will arrive before the rain starts. We do our bit to make sure the orders are right and the paperwork is filed with the local authorities. It is a quiet life but it keeps the bills paid.
