Coffee Board

Our office is situated at 45, Rajagopalapuram, right along the Ooty Main Road. If you know the area, you know how much traffic flows through here, especially when the tourist season kicks in. It is a bit of a climb up the hill, and the air stays a lot cooler than it does down in the plains. We have been here for a good while, handling the various bits and pieces that come with being part of the Coffee Board. The building is older, with high ceilings and heavy doors that sometimes creak when the wind picks up. Most of us here have spent our whole careers working with coffee in one way or another. We don't have fancy furniture or anything like that. It is mostly desks piled with reports and samples of beans from the nearby estates. People stop by quite often to ask for directions or just to see what we are doing. We try to be helpful when we can, even if we are busy with the ledger books. The view out the back window is mostly trees and the occasional bus rumbling past on the main road. It gets quiet in the evenings once the sun goes down behind the mountains. We just keep things running as they should, day in and day out. It is a steady kind of job in a beautiful part of the country, and we feel lucky for that.
