We are situated on the ground floor of Pancharatna Towers, which is right opposite the Cinemax in Khadakpada. It’s a busy little corner of the world, with people always heading to the movies or walking through the neighborhood. Being on the ground floor is handy because we don’t have to deal with elevators, and it’s easy to move things in and out. The office for Vertex Chem is a simple setup where we handle the day-to-day business of chemicals. It’s not a lab or anything like that, just where the management and the paperwork happen. We have desks, some filing cabinets, and a whole lot of files that seem to grow every week. The noise from the street filters in sometimes, but we don’t mind it much. It makes us feel like we’re part of the local scene. We spend our days coordinating with suppliers and making sure the deliveries are on schedule. It’s a lot of talking on the phone and writing down notes on whatever scrap of paper is handy. Sometimes we grab a coffee from a nearby shop and stand outside for a few minutes to watch the traffic. It’s a regular job for a regular group of people, just trying to keep the business running smoothly without any big fuss or complicated systems.
