I’ve been doing photography for quite some time now out of Sonawala Orchid. It's near Jhanda Bazar in Vasai West, which is a pretty lively spot to be. My space isn't huge, but it's where I keep all the cameras and lenses organized. Most days I’m either out on a shoot or sitting here going through hundreds of images on the monitor. It’s a lot of work that people don’t see, just clicking and sorting. I started out with a basic camera and just kept at it. Now, people around Thane and Vasai know me for taking photos at their events or doing portraits. I don't use a lot of fancy words for what I do. I just try to catch people looking like themselves. Sometimes the lighting is tricky or the weather doesn't help, but you just make it work. The shop is easy to find if you know where Jhanda Bazar is. I spend a lot of time cleaning lenses and charging batteries. It's a one-man show mostly. I like the variety of the work, seeing different faces and going to different spots around town. It gets tiring standing all day with heavy gear, but it's what I know. I don't have a big front office or anything, just a practical setup to get the job done. If I'm not in, I'm probably out shooting somewhere nearby or picking up prints. It’s been a good way to earn a living here and I plan to stay for a while.
