If you ever find yourself in Bhayander East, you might pass by Vikas Industrial Estate. We are at D-15. It’s an industrial area, so don’t expect anything pretty or modern. There’s a lot of dust and the sound of trucks moving on Goddev Road all day long. Shree Mahalaxmi Trade Inc. has been in this unit for a while now. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we’re usually too busy for that kind of thing. Inside, it’s mostly just rows of boxes and a small corner where we keep the main desk and the computer. It gets quite hot in the afternoons, so we usually have the big metal shutters rolled all the way up. You can hear the neighbors working on their machines too. We deal with a lot of loading and unloading every single day. It’s physical work and your hands get dirty within the first hour. We don’t have a receptionist or anything; if the bell rings, whoever is closest to the front goes to see who it is. We know the truck drivers who come here regularly, and we usually have a quick chat while they wait for their paperwork to be finished. It’s a straightforward kind of life here. We don't use big words or have meetings that last for hours. We just check the inventory, talk to the suppliers, and make sure everything is where it needs to be for the next day.
