Searising Maritime Academy Private Limited

Our academy is tucked away in Akshay Apartment, part of the Vivekanand Arcade on Station Road in Badlapur. We are part of the Akshay Co-op Society, which is a fairly old and busy complex. Being so close to the station means we hear the trains rattling by all day long, but you get used to it after a week. The office itself is pretty basic. We have a few rooms with sturdy wooden tables and some plastic chairs for the students. There’s a small leak in the corner ceiling that only shows up during the heavy monsoon rains, so we just move the desk a bit when that happens. We aren't some big corporate academy with fancy uniforms. Most of the time, we’re just in our regular clothes, dealing with the paperwork for maritime courses. There are a few maps of the ocean pinned to the walls, but they are getting a bit yellowed at the edges now. We spend a lot of our time explaining the basics to young guys who want to head out to sea. It’s a lot of talking and showing them how the forms work. We usually grab lunch from the small canteen downstairs. It’s a very local way of doing things. No one is trying to impress anyone here. We just show up, do the work, and help whoever walks in from the station road.
