Our place is C-38 in the APMC Market No.1, Phase 2, Sector-19. Vashi is a place that never really sleeps. If you have been to the market, you know the vibe. It is all about the cardamom and spices here at the company. The air is always thick with the smell of cloves and green pods. It is a loud, bustling environment with handcarts everywhere and people shouting out prices. Our office is right in the thick of it. We have bags stacked up to the ceiling sometimes when a new shipment arrives. It is a functional space, designed for moving products, not for sitting around in luxury. The furniture is old and sturdy, built to handle the weight of heavy samples and books. We spend a lot of time on the phone with growers and buyers, navigating the daily shifts in the market. It is not a clean-cut corporate job. You get your hands dirty and your clothes usually smell like the warehouse by the end of the day. We do not have a mission statement on the wall; we just have a list of what needs to be shipped out by evening. It is a fast-paced way to live, but it is what we know. The coffee at the stall near the gate is the only thing that keeps us going during the peak season. That is life in Vashi for us.
